Partitionware SIP Call Agent andApplication Server
Flexible SIP Call Agent and IMS Application Server
Partitionware provides a flexible SIP Call Agent solution that provides full SIP session management capabilities. It offers powerful, integrated functionality for call control and session routing in fixed, mobile and IMS / NGN networks with integrated NAT / Topology hiding for security.
It provides all SIP UA (user agent) and B2BUA (back-to-back user agent) functionality, as defined by the IETF, as well as SIP Proxy and Registrar capabilities, enabling it to be adopted for a wide range of use cases.
Powerful IMS capabilities and converged network functionality
Typical applications include:
- Mobile GMSC
- CLASS 5 softswitch
- CLASS 4 softswitch
- IP-PBX
- IMS AS
- X-CSCF
Supported features include:
- Number translation

Managed service model to reduce deployment risk
The Partitionware SIP Call Agent can be deployed in converged network environments, or provide X-CSCF functionality in IMS core networks.
It’s delivered from a secure, hosted environment, through a unique managed service model that dramatically reduces costs and risk. The hosted model provides a cost-effective means to quickly deploy solutions and avoids CAPEX.
Connectivity to legacy networks can be enabled by SS7 gateways. If media interaction is required, the SIP Call Agent can be combined with our IP media server module to provide a complete solution.
It offers an advanced XML-based scripting engine which enables custom session flows to be created, or it can be integrated to external service control elements.
Rapidly enable Value Added Services
The SIP Call Agent can be deployed as an IMS Application Server, connecting to an IMS core via the standards-based ISC interface and Diameter.
Alternatively, it can support integration with external applications and services, via the advanced XML interface. As an IMS-AS, it can support key new services, such as VoLTE and VoWiFi, offering a simple migration path to enriched voice services for 4G MNOs and MVNOs.
Integrated IP media server for VoIP and interactive voice
The SIP Call Agent also offers an integrated IP Media Server function. This provides voice processing capabilities that are often required by key applications, such as the playback of pre-recorded announcements, voice recording, tone detection, and mixing.
The IP media server is a key complementary element of our SIP Call Agent. While the SIP Call Agent is responsible for managing sessions, the IP media server processes the conversations that it controls and provides full media processing capabilities.
It comes with an XML-based interface that allows custom scripts and applications to be created, quickly and easily. This flexibility means that it can be the basis of a wide range of applications and rapidly adapted to suit individual requirements.
Among the applications enabled by the IP media server are:
- Media playback
- Call recording
- IVR (DTMF controlled)
- Voicemail
- Call quality monitoring
The IP Media Server enables full co-ordination of RTP streams, under the control of the SIP Call Agent, as well as NAT traversal. This ensures that VoIP communications services can effectively be delivered across LAN, WAN or Wi-Fi connections.
It’s a key module that is at the heart of many of our solutions. As a software-based solution, it’s ready for virtualised environments and can scale to meet evolving capacity demands.
